![]() The need for health access in Orange County defies common perceptions of Orange County. While the county is popularly characterized in the media as being prosperous due to the TV shows “OC” and “Laguna Beach,” its urban core faces compelling and intractable health care dilemmas: 1 out of 10 children and 1 out of 5 adults age 18+ years are without any form of health care coverage. Despite the area’s affluent image, it is estimated that there are 300,000 uninsured in Orange County, many of whom are children. In fact, nearly 1 in 10 local children live without the protection of health insurance that so many of us take for granted. Orange County has no public primary health system or county hospital. This means that the responsibility of caring for the low-income and uninsured population rests with community clinics. DONATE NOW Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life. To assure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the not-for-profit organization and causes they are asked to support, we declare that all donors have these rights.
